Unit 19 May 2025 Minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Herbert Griffin American Legion Auxiliary met May 6, 2025 at 6:30 PM with 7 officers and 2 members present. The meeting was conducted by President Debbie Howell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Preamble to the American Legion Auxiliary were recited. The opening prayer was given by Gail Gilliam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The roll call of officers was given by Unit 19 Secretary Gail Gilliam. The motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Beth McAdams and seconded by Charlotte Conners and carried on the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finance – Libby provided and explained the finances. A copy of her report is attached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Americanism \u2013 Teresa Lyle reported that the essay winners and participants will soon receive certificates and prizes. Eight essays were received from 3 schools. Two winners from Class II were selected and forwarded to Department Chair\u2026. will need prize money only for Class II – 1st<\/sup>, 2nd<\/sup>, 3rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Education- Charlotte made the motion to carry 2 trays of cookies to Riverside School faculty in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week. Judy Morton 2nd<\/sup> the motion and it carried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Leadership \u2013 There was a vote on the slate of officers, Beth read the slate. Charlotte moved to elect, Judy 2nd<\/sup> and it carried. The officers for 2025 \u2013 2026 will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n President \u2013 Joanne Ring<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vice President \u2013 Jolene Thompson<\/p>\n\n\n\n Secretary \u2013 Teresa Lyle<\/p>\n\n\n\n Treasurer \u2013 Libby Moss<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chaplain \u2013 Gail Gilliam<\/p>\n\n\n\n Historian \u2013 Charlotte Conners<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sgt at Arms \u2013 Judy Morton<\/p>\n\n\n\n Membership \u2013 Beth reported that as of May 6, 2025 there are 107 members that have renewed. The goal is 137.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Girls State \u2013 Beth reported the delegates are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Columbia Academy \u2013 Lillie Baker, Francie McDonald and Sarah Isenburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Culleoka \u2013 Lily Alred<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hampshire \u2013 Ansley Lovett<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mt. Pleasant \u2013 Kera Smithson, Olivia O\u2019Neil, Kylie Wood<\/p>\n\n\n\n Santa Fe Unit School \u2013 Sophie Church and Brylie Blade<\/p>\n\n\n\n Spring Hill High School \u2013 Ashlynn Johnson, Brielle Weissman, Julie Thompson and Wren Maggard<\/p>\n\n\n\n Zion Academy \u2013 Carline Holden, Raigan Gardner<\/p>\n\n\n\n Constitution and By-Laws \u2013 The committee met at 5pm on May 4th<\/sup> and discussed the Standing Rules reviewed Education, Girls State, Finances, Poppy and Veterans Affairs.
