Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on <\/strong>June 4<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong>, 2024<\/strong>. Vice Commander Diane Burgess called the meeting to order at <\/strong>6:40pm<\/strong>.  There were <\/strong>34 <\/strong>members present.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the May 7<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong>, 2024, meeting and they were approved as read.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: Eagle Scout Zach Cole & Leon Brower from Centerville <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guest Speaker: Eagle Scout Zach Cole presented a slide presentation with before and after pictures on the John Willis Memorial project.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMMITTEE REPORTS: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Veterans Services: Service Officer Jeff Parks had nothing to report.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report.  Post 19 membership quota for 2024 is 410, 366 have paid, still need 44, the post stands at 89%.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SICK CALL: Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall, Wayne Roberts, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Oscar Crouch, Ray Dye and Jimmy Rogers, Bill Ray, George Jones.<\/strong> Charles Dilahay; Commander Roger Chapman, Calvin Cheek & Danny Staggs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW BUSINESS: Yve Bowshier volunteered to spearhead a Post 19 Veterans Day Parade event including children of Maury County Veterans. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: None<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Past Commander Eddie Ables stated the Maury County Rotaries will be holding a 4<\/strong>th<\/sup><\/strong> of July Celebration at the Maury County Park where Veterans will be acknowledged.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
