Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on <\/strong>July 5<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup>, 2023<\/strong>. Commander Gene McShane called the meeting to order at <\/strong>6:33 pm<\/strong>. There were <\/strong>29 <\/strong>members<\/strong> present.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the June 6<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup>, 2023, meeting and they were approved as read.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: Andy Arnette (guest); New Members Jim Perry & Larry Nicholson; Joseph Goode transferred in from Post 2000<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMMITTEE REPORTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baseball Report: Donny Walters reported that American Legion Post 19\u2019s baseball\u2019s 4<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup> of July tournament went well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post 19\u2019s record stands at 17-3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veterans Services: Jeff Parks reported that 15 food baskets were delivered last month for veterans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2023 is 432, 385 paid, . Post stands at 89%.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SICK CALL:<\/strong>Post members on sick call are <\/strong>Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frank McBride, Wayne Roberts, Jimmy Lee, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Oscar Crouch, Ray Dye and Jimmy Rogers, Bill Ray.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: Commander Gene McShane handed out Certificate of Appreciation to Terry Locke and Legionnaire of the Year Award to Adjutant Steve Metheny.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 members of Post 19 attended Spring Hill\u2019s ROTC obstacle course dedication ceremony.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Past Commander Eddie Ables & Commander Gene McShane Spruced up the John Harlan Willis Memorial and placed a new American Flag at the site.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie Morton and Gene McShane spoke on replacing the Gold Star sign due to the road construction being done.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ANNOUNCEMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commander Chapman reminded everyone of the upcoming National Convention that will be held August 25<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup> through 31<\/strong>st<\/strong><\/sup> in Charlotte NC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legion Riders will be meeting at the Memorial Building the following Monday after the Legion meeting each month at 6:00 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
