Post 19 Minutes of January 6, 2026 Meeting

American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19 met on January 6, 2026 at 6:00 pm at the
Memorial Building, Columbia, TN for its regular monthly meeting. 1 st Vice
Commander Rebecca Johnston called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. 34
members were in attendance.
Chaplin Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.
Members enjoyed a meal prepared by Karen Norton.
Commander, Mike Neulander at 6:35 pm regularly convened.
Reading of the minutes from the December 3, 2025, meeting read and approved.
Karen St. Clair with the Columbia Breakfast Rotary was recognized as a guest.
Mrs. St Clair presented a check for $500.00 to Post 19 for Veterans from
donations by the CBRC members for the benefit of veterans.
Also recognized was Billie Pressnell veteran of the Air Force.
Adjutant, Eddie Ables read the minutes from the January 6, 2026, meeting.
Jeff Parks, Financial Officer gave the financial report and is attached to the
minutes.
Flag Detail: Flags were folded in January for the following veterans. Jimmy
McClain Jan. 9^th , Joseph Perko Jan. 13^th , Bobby Nesse Jan. 18^th , Carl Woodall Jan.
22^nd , Dean Dickey Jan. 23 rd , Robert Baker Jr. Jan 28^th and Bruce Kennedy Jan. 30^th .
Veterans Services: Yve Bowshier informed the members that if you are insured
with USAA insurance, they have information for family planning. She also
informed the Post of the help given to a Veteran’s widow regarding bills. She let
the Post she is available to help all members as well as veterans not members of
Post 19. She also gave special thanks to Post 19 for the support given to her and
her family in the sudden death of her father.
Membership Report:

Legion Baseball: No Report
New Business: There was no new business brought before the Post.
Good for the Legion: Charles Sanders reminded members if they had or knew of
veterans and veteran widows that needed to be added to our Christmas Food Box
and Fruit Basket for this year to turn their names into Donny and Diane.
1^st Vice Commander Rebecca Johnston reminder members 2026 membership
cards were available, and dues were $50.00 this year. She also reminded the Post
were always looking for Flag Folders to assist with providing military honors for
deceased veterans.
No other business was brought before the Post and 1^st Vice Commander Rebecca
Johnston adjourned the meeting at 7:20 pm.
