Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on February 6^th , 2024. Vice Commander Diane Burgess called the meeting to order at 6:41pm. There were 28 members present.
Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the January 2^nd , 2023, meeting and they were approved as read.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.
NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: Guest: Patrick Lee; 7 th District Commander Vincent Cuevas; Maury County Veterans Service Officer Mark Lewis
Guest Speaker: 7^th District Commander Vincent Cuevas: Gave a reminder that the American Legion Basic Training will be held on Saturday 3/2/2024 beginning at 9:00 am at the VFW in Lewisburg. A quarterly 7^th District meeting to be held on 4/22/2024 at Post 60 in Pulaski beginning at 6:00pm. The 3-year membership is now available online only. Legion Care insurance has a free $5000.00 policy to all members when participating in any Legion business, must be applied for online.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Veterans Services: Service Officer Jeff Parks had nothing to report.
MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2024 is 410, 347 have paid, still need 63, the post stands at 85%.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: At the December meeting a motion was made by Gary Fisher to reduce the cost of meals back to $5.00. That motion was tabled until the Executive Committee could meet, and the budget was set for 2024. After completing the budget, the Executive Committee voted to keep the cost of the meals at $10.00 as previously voted on by the membership in the October meeting. A motion was made and seconded. No discussion, the motion carried by unanimous vote.
NEW BUSINESS: Finance Officer Donny Walters presented a check in the amount of $22250.00 to VSO Mark Lewis to be used for the veterans in need in Maury County.
An Executive Meeting was held on 01/23/25024 and minutes were read and made a part of these minutes by attachment.

A motion was made to adopt the 2024 budget set by the Executive Committee, motion was seconded, no discussion was made. The motion was carried by unanimous vote.
Donny Walters made a motion to donate $250.00 to the Maury County Fire Department. Motion was made, seconded, no discussion and by unanimous vote motion carried.
Donny Walters nominated Jeff Parks for Financial Officer for the 2024 Election.
GOOD FOR THE LEGION: American Legion Basic Training was announced that it would be held March 2^nd , 2024, at the Lewisburg VFW at 9:00am. Address is 148 E Church St. The class is a one-day course lasting approximately 3 to 4 hours. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Legion Riders meeting to be held at 6:00 pm on Monday January 8^th at the Memorial Building.
There being no further business, Vice Commander Diane Burgess adjourned the meeting at 7:15 pm.
