February 2025 Minutes
Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on February 4th, 2025. Commander Diane Burgess called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. There were 31 members present.
Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the January 7th , 2024; they were approved as read.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Jeff Parks submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.
NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: New Members: George Duckworth U.S.A.F., Peter Hayes U.S.N. & Lance Kraemer U.S.A.F. Guest Michael Knox.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Baseball Report: No report
Veterans Services: Service Officer Dan Pullen was not present.
MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2025 is 388, 322 have paid, still need 66, the post stands at 83%.
SICK CALL: Post members on sick call are Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall, Wayne Roberts, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Oscar Crouch, Ray Dye and Jimmy Rogers, Bill Ray, George Jones. Charles Dilahay, Calvin Cheek & Danny Staggs, Art Ankrum, Bobby Damato.
POST EVERLASTING: Richard Wetmore age 92 passed away on February 3rd, 2025. An Air Force Veteran and a Honorary Member with 69 continuous years.
FLAGS FOLDED: January: 16th Blonnie Dodson Jr.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Looking for youth sports teams to sponsor.
NEW BUSINESS: Post Elections Committee to meet this month to discuss officer nominations for the 2025-2026 year. Elections Committee to provide nominations names at the March meeting. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.
GOOD FOR THE LEGION: Mule Day coming up April 3rd to 6th. The Post will participate with the Auctioneer Contest once again.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Vets to Vets banquet will be held on 03/01/2025 at 6:00 pm at the UAW Hall in Spring Hill. Tickets are available for $10.00
Post 44 Winchester will be hosting an in-person American Legion Basic Training Class for District 7, March 8th, 2025, if anyone is interested in attending.
ROTC from Columbia & Spring Hill High Schools will be attending the May 6th meeting. Scholarships from the Post will be handed out at that time.
TN. Department Conference to be held June 14th & 15th. Registration forms are available from Adjutant Metheny. Members must be registered by May 12th, 2025.
There being no further business, Commander Diane Burgess adjourned the meeting at 7:05 pm.
