Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on December 5^th, 2023. Past Commander Gene McShane called the meeting to order at 6:37pm. There were 24 members present.

Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the November 7^th, 2023, meeting and they were approved as read.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Adjutant Steve Metheny submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: None

Veterans Services: Service Officer Jeff Parks reported that a Veteran needed a wheelchair ramp.

Officer Parks and 2 others traveled to Alabama and built a ramp for the disabled Veteran. A motion was made by Past Commander McShane for a $500 donation be made to cover the expenses. Motion was seconded, no discussion, motion.

MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2024 is 410, 297 have paid, still need 113, the post stands at 72%. Post needs 11 more to reach the Department goal of 75% by 12/13/2023.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Veteran’s Day Parade to meet at the Post Office Parking lot at 10:00am

NEW BUSINESS: Gary Fisher made a motion to reduce the cost of the meal back to $5.00, motion was seconded, after lengthy discussion vote was tabled until a financial report was completed.

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: American Legion Basic Training was announced that it would be held March 3^rd 2024. Location and times to be announced later. Everyone was encouraged to attend by Vice Commander John Davis.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Legion Riders meeting to be held at 5:00 pm on December 11^th at Puckett’s.
