Officer Reports:
Pres – The Gala Fundraiser for the Department will be held on September 19th. It is formal attire. The money raised will go toward repairing the AC/Heating unit at the department office. Libby Moss motioned that the unit give $100 as a donation for this cause. Gail Gilliam Seconded and the motion passed.
VP – Jolene asked if we could send birthday cards to unit members. Do we have a source for birthdates?

**It was noted that there are some expenses out for the costs of classroom flags and VA Carnival, but these will be reimbursed at the next meeting when all of been collected.
Motion to accept : Judy Morton 2nd: Gail Gilliam Passed: Yes
Bills presented: Charlotte Conner motioned that the annual cooperation of $20.47 be reimbursed to herself. Teresa Lyle seconded and the motion passed.
Correspondence – A note and check was sent from Paula Esposito for $100 donation to assist the unit with any costs needed.
Chap – Gail sent a sympathy card to the family of Art Ankrum

Awards:
Cavalcade of Memories: Beth has updated the inventory list that was created on 10/1/2024. She also brought to the meeting the box that contains different types of flags that the unit possesses. We have in possession hand held flags, outdoor flags, dogtags, 66 pocket flags with poems for the deployed.
Children and Youth:
Child Welfare: The name of this committee is now known as Child Well Being Foundation.
Community Service: Everyone was reminded to keep up and report any and all volunteer hours.
Convention: Charlotte Conner was unable to go to the National Convention in Tampa, FL.
Constitution/Bylaws:
Education: The unit will continue to collect school supplies for a Maury County school through the January meeting.
Fundraising: Reports were given with information concerning restaurants that will help.
– Teresa Lyle reported that Chipotle gives 25% of the sales on the date assigned. Sign- up is on their website.
-JoAnn Ring reported that Chic-Fil-A is a no go.
-Jolene Thompson is going to check with Texas Roadhouse.
Girls State: A letter was sent to ? O’Neal of Mt. Pleasant HS that left Girls State for reimbursement of funds. Charlotte hasn’t heard anything as of the meeting. Charlotte is also wanting to get into the high schools to talk with the juniors to let them know what Girls State is all about.

Leadership: The District meeting will be October 11 at 10 AM. JoAnn Ring will RSVP for the following: Gail Gilliam, Jolene Thompson, Libby Moss, and Charlotte Conner.
Legislative:
Membership: Beth McAdams reported that our 2026 goal is 110 members. Department reports that we have 24 members paid. Beth has 25 members who have renewed. She will check with them to see where the discrepancy lies. New membership can now be sent to department. Renewal notices are being sent out this month. Beth is encouraging members to renew online.
Music: America the Beautiful was played near the close of the meeting.
National Security:
Past Pres. Parlay:
Poppy: Jolene Thompson reports that the unit has 2, 325 poppies on hand. A wreath with Unit 19’s name and 50 poppies was laid at the Vietnam Memorial Travelling Wall in Winchester, TN by Jolene Thompson and Teresa Lyle.
Public Relations:
UD & R:
VA & R: Libby Moss and Teresa Lyle reported that 10 Quilts of Valor were given during August, 3 at McCreary’s and 7 at Puckett’s. Both of these were Vet 2 Vet gatherings.
VA Fall Festival is October 17 in Murfreesboro from 9 to 1. So far items purchased are pudding cups, applesauce cups and backscratchers. Puzzle books and other items are being gathered.
Wreaths Across America is Dec. 13th, 2025. Is there a way that the unit could help? Teresa Lyle reported that her and Libby’s DAR chapter would be placing wreaths at Zion Pres. Cemetery, St. Johns, and Polk Memorial. They have a code that could be used to donate to these cemeteries. It is believed that wreaths will also be placed at Rose Hill by another group.
Announcements:
Teresa Lyle let everyone know of an event on Saturday, Sept.6th in Columbia called Operation Smoke Signal. It is located on James Campbell Blvd at the Burning Acre parking lot. It is a fundraiser and awareness of veterans services offered. Food will be for sale by Hearty Hog, which raises money to teach veterans how to smoke meats.
Judy Morton announced that on Sept. 18th the Marine Corp League would have a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse. Mention the league to give them credit.
