Minutes of previous meeting: Not Read – a motion was made to accept the minutes that were posted       on the Unit’s website. A few copies were passed out to those that wanted them.

                Chap – A sympathy card was sent to Josephine Dye for the passing of her husband, Ray. A                                               Thinking of You card was sent to David Wade.

                                It was reported by Beth McAdams that Art Ankrum passed recently. Gail will send a                                           sympathy card to the family.

                Community Service: Teresa Lyle reported 4 hours in service to the People’s Table (1 hour) and                       the Community Back to School Backpack Giveaway (3 hours). The following worked the                   Post 19 baseball game for 3 hours each: JoAnne Ring, Charlotte Connors, Jolene                                  Thompson, Debbie Howell.

                Convention:

                Constitution/Bylaws: Copies of the constitution and bylaws were emailed to Department with                                     Charlotte Connors and JoAnne Ring included on the email. Beth, as chairman, has                                    reviewed the Auxiliary’s Standing Rules. Our unit will need to change the words “she                                        and her” to be in compliance with National. Beth also requests that all chairmen                               review their bylaws to see if modifications need to be made. Changes will be made in                                  early 2026.

                Education: School has begun. Teresa Lyle, chair, requests that the unit collects school supplies                           through the January meeting. She will keep these and then deliver to a chosen school.

                Finance: An audit of the unit’s books was completed on July 26 by the audit committee.                                     Everything was in compliance and correct.

                                   Corporation and 990N has been filed for the unit.

                Fundraising: President JoAnne Ring wants the unit to focus on 2-3 ways to raise money. It was                                   suggested that we collect information about fundraising through several restaurants                                and report in September. The following volunteered to collect information: Libby Moss                            (DBs Pizza), Teresa Lyle (McCreary’s and Chipotle), JoAnne Ring (Chik-Fil-A0 and Jolene                                           Thompson (Applebee’s).

                Girls State: Beth McAdams, chair, reported that she met with members before dinner to                               discuss ideas for 2026 Girls State. Chairmanship is being changed to Charlotte Connors                                  with Beth assisting as needed. Girl’s Nation Vice President is from Tennessee. We will                               need to add Battle Creek HS and Agathos HS to our schools. Adjustments may need to                                   be made to other schools depending on money raised and interviews conducted.                                 Jolene Thompson will work on a letter to send to school counselors about Girl’s State.

                Leadership: Thank you to those who helped at Post 19’s baseball game. Also, thank you to                                Jolene Thompson for keeping our Facebook page and Website information up to date.

                Legislative:

                Membership: The goal for 2026 is 110 members. There are 131 members on role sent from                            department on 4/2/2025. Two members have passed away and have been reported.                            23 of these members did not pay for 2025. At least 6 more members’ dues will not be                            paid for 2026. This leaves 102 possible members. Department already shows that 3 Sr.                            members have paid online. Beth accepted payment for dues at the meeting. New                            membership dues that are paid will be sent during September per request by                            department. The first transmittal will also include six Gold Star members, three shut-in                           members that are paid for by the unit, and two members that are Paid Up for Life. We                            currently have six Jr. members on role that may pay for 2026. The unit keeps $5 for                            each Sr. member and $5.75 of each Jr. member dues.

                Poppy: We still have plenty of poppies to be given away.

                UD & R:

                VA & R: Veterans Festival at Alvin York Hospital (Murfreesboro) will be on Oct. 17. Libby                                 proposed for funds to be given to her to purchase items to be given out. Gail Gilliam                                     seconded. It was voted and approved.

                Other Announcements:

                                -There will be a flag folding ceremony at the burial of a veteran on Sat. Aug.9 at 2:15.

                                – President Ring requested for us to think about what we want our unit to accomplish                                      this year and what we want to see in our meetings. Ideas will be discussed in                                                        September.
