Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on August 1^st, 2023. Commander Roger Chapman called the meeting to order at 6:37 pm. There were 35 members present.

Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the July 5^th, 2023, meeting and they were approved as read.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Baseball Report: Donny Walters reported that American Legion Post 19 Cyclones won the State Championship and

are headed to N.C. for the World Series

Veterans Services: Jeff Parks reported that 15 food baskets were delivered last month for veterans.

MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report. 2024 Membership quotas are not out yet but Post 19 roster is showing 442 with 204 paid, post stands at 46%.

SICK CALL:Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall,

Frank McBride, Wayne Roberts, Jimmy Lee, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Oscar Crouch, Ray Dye and Jimmy Rogers, Bill Ray, George Jones.

NEW BUSINESS: Discussion was held concerning the Wilis Memorial, that it would be a great project for an Eagle Scout.

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: Commander Chapman stated that Mike Conners will be traveling to the National Convention to represent Post 19. Commander Chapman made a motion to help with the cost of $500.00. Bob Stephenson 2^nd the motion, no discussion, carried by unanimous vote.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Charlie Morton announced that the James Patterson Memorial Fund will be starting the food pantry back up and are looking for donations.

Elks Club will be hosting a Veteran’s Breakfast for all on 11/11/2023.

Commander Chapman reminded everyone of the upcoming National Convention that will be held August 25^th through 31^st in Charlotte NC.

Legion Riders’ next meeting will be at Puckett’s the following Monday after the Legion at 5:00 pm.

There being no further business, Commander Roger Chapman adjourned the meeting at 7:15 pm.
