April 2023 Minutes

Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on April 4th, 2023.  Commander Gene McShane called the meeting to order at 6:34 pm.  There were 27 members present.

 Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer. 

READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the March 7h, 2023, meeting and they were approved as read.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Adjutant Metheny submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment. 

NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: New Member Maurice Pomeroy U.S.A.F. and Jennifer Hoover U.S.A.

Veterans Services: Jeff Parks: No Report

MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report.  Post 19 membership quota for 2023 is 432, 360 paid, still need 72.  Post stands at 83%.   

SICK CALL: Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall,

 Frank McBride, Wayne Roberts, Jimmy Lee, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Oscar Crouch, Ray Dye and Jimmy Rogers, Bill Ray.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Proceeds from the Maury County Breakfast Rotary Auctioneer Contest amounted to $2150.00

NEW BUSINESS:  A motion was made by Roger Gilliam to fund 5 girls to Girls State.  Motion was seconded, motion was carried by unanimous vote.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Post 60 in Pulaski will be hosting the 7th District Convention on April 17, 2023, at 6:00pm.  Nominations and election of the 7th District Commander will be on the program along with Department updates.   

 Legion Riders will be meeting at the Memorial Building the following Monday after the Legion meeting each month at 6:00 pm.  

There being no further business, Commander Gene McShane adjourned the meeting at 7:40 pm.
