American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19 met on November 4, 2025 – 6:00 pm at the Memorial Building in Columbia, Tennessee for its regular monthly meeting. Post Commander, Mike Neulander called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. 33 members were present. 

Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer. 

Reading of the minutes from the October 7, 2025, meeting was read and approved. 

Commander Neulander recognized guest and new members: Member Yve Bowshier, mother, Mrs. Fran was recognized. 

Financial Report: Finance Officer, Jeff Parks gave financial report and is attached as part of these minutes.   

Baseball Report: None

Commander Neulander introduced guest speaker, Eddie Duckworth, Commander of Vets to Vets. Vets to Vets was founded in 2014 and their purpose is helping Vets in need. They work with other Veteran’s programs such as Veterans Service Office. They also host breakfast every Monday at Puckett’s in Columbia and will have 30 to 50 members attending. They help veterans with vehicle repairs, temp. housing, transportation to medical appointments, support food banks within the county. Commander Duckworth informed the membership of their fund raiser scheduled for November 8th at the Factory in Columbia. Veterans Service Officer Yve Bowshier reminded the membership to get her names of veterans that need to be added to our Christmas Food Boxes and Fruit Baskets. 

She also informed the membership that it never to early to start preparing your Veteran’s paperwork in the event something happens to you. 

She also recognized the following members for their support in the Buddy System; Steve Methanie, R. Johnson, Darrell Vanhunsun, Eddie Duckworth, J. Hoover. 

   Commander Neulander read a letter from the American Legion National Commander informing Post 19 of the appointment of 1st Vice Commander, Rebecca Johnston to the National Security Council. 

It was announced the Elk’s Club would host a breakfast for all veterans on November 11th at the Elk’s Club. Also, on November 15th the Elk’s Club would honor Pvt.Elijah Hines at 1900 hours. Pvt. Hines was from Maury County served in World War II and was the first Maury County serviceman Missing in Action in World War II. 

Good for the Legion: Post 19 and Ladies Aux. would be in the Veteran’s Day Parade November 11th. Reminder by Donny Walters December 20th Christmas Food Boxes and Fruit Baskets would be done. Meet at the Memorial Building at 8:00 am for coffee and then to Piggly Wiggly. 

Commander Neulander informed Post 19 the request from Karen Norton to increase meal cost from $12.50 to $15.00. Motion to increase the cost to $15.00 made by Jeff Parks, 2nd by Steve Mathanie. Discussion called for, there was none. Vote called for 33 yea – 0 no. Motion passed.  

Post Everlasting: Member Archie Lee Steen Jr. passed away October 25, 2025, at the Murfreesboro, TN VA. He was a 20-year Air Force Veteran.

Sick List: Member Danny Staggs

Fold Folding for October:  October 2 Harry Parrish, October 9 Harold Chapman, October 13 Randy Fitzgerald, October 19 James Blackman, October 26 Donald Martin and October 27 Warren Williams. 

There was no old business to come before the membership.

There was no correspondence.

Commander Neulander declared the meeting of American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19 of the American Legion Department of Tennessee adjourned at 8:00 pm.
