Herbert Griffin Post 19

Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on October 7, 2025 at the Memorial Building in Columbia, TN for its regular monthly meeting. Commander Michael Neulander called the meeting to order. There were 31 members present. 

Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer. 

Reading of the minutes for September meeting by Adjutant, Eddie Ables were read and approved as read. 

Financial Report: Finance Officer Jeff Parks was unable to attend meeting and financial report was given by Eddie Ables and made a part of the minutes as read. 

Commander Neulander introduced guest speaker, Shelly Sasson, CEO of The Well Out Reach. Ms. Sasson talked about the work The Well Out Reach did with Veterans. Talked about the Middle Tennessee Food Ministry. Inform the membership of the food pantries located in Spring Hill and Mount Pleasant. They are serving 2100 families per month. She also talked about the Jet Pack Program for students that provides food for them over the weekends. They serve 32 schools in Maury County and 10 schools in Williamson County. 

Motion was made by Gene McShane and seconded by Kim Smith to give $500.00 from the Charity Account to The Well Outreach. Discussion was called for there was none Vote Passed 31 yes 0 no

There were two guest present: Donald Smith, Army Veteran and Billy Pressell, Air Force.

Veterans Service Report: None

Membership Report: Goal 349 – 200 paid Stand at 57% – 143 unpaid  Update 

Goal 349 – 221 paid Stand at 63%  with 122 unpaid

Baseball Report: None

New Business: Donny Walters Saturday, December 20th Post 19 will deliver Fruit Baskets and Food Boxes. Members will meet at Memorial Building at 8:00 am for coffee and fellowship then go to Piggly Wiggly to pickup baskets and boxes. 

Reminder October 31st the Legion would be giving away Halloween candy on the square starting at 5:00 pm. Members were encouraged to come and have fun. 

Motion was made by Hal Holcome, seconded by Roger Gilliam to give $300.00 toward the purchase of Halloween Candy to be given out on October 31st. No discussion Vote called for 31 yes 0 no. Motion Passed. Jeff Parks would purchase the candy. 

Kim Smith reported of hearing the Old Post 19 Legion Building was scheduled to be torn down. 

There was no old business 

There was no correspondence

Commander Michael Neulander declared the meeting of Herbert Giffin Post 19 of the American Legion Department of Tennessee Adjourned
