October 2022 Minutes
Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on October 4th, 2022. Commander Gene McShane called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm. There were 32members present.
Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant, Steve Metheny read the minutes from September 6th, 2022, meeting and they were approved as read.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.
NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: New Member Jeff Ankrum Jr. just graduated U.S.A.F. bootcamp and will be stationed at Nellis A.F. base. Visiting from Post 44 from Florissant Mo. Jeff Ankrum Sr.
Guest Speaker: Patrick Hodges: Blood Assurance will be holding a blood drive on Veterans Day with Blood Assurance and the local Kiwanis Club donating $10.00 each towards the James Patterson Memorial Foundation for each pint donated.
Guest Speaker: Bob Crigger: Live Veterans Memorial will be held at the Riverwalk on Saturday November 11th from 9 to 2 to honor veterans

Baseball Report: Donny Walters reported that Baseball season is over and will continue in the Spring.
Veterans Services: Darlene Barker- No Report
MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steve Metheny gave membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2023 is 432, 266 paid, still need 166. Post stands at 62%
SICK CALL:Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall,
Frank McBride, and Wayne Roberts, Jimmy Lee, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Oscar Crouch, Ray Dye and Jimmy Rogers

NEW BUSINESS: Veterans Service Officer Darlene Barker had to step down due to employment. Jeff Parks was nominated as the new Veterans Service Officer; no other nominations were made. Jeff Parks was voted in as the new Veteran Service Officer.
Darrell Vandusen made a motion that new flag poles for legion be ordered, motion seconded and was passed.
Rose Hill Cemetery asking for donations to help with the upkeep on the cemetery. It was recommended to table the discussion until more information could be obtained.
