Meeting Minutes October 2021
Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on October 5th, 2021. Commander Eddie Ables called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. There were 28 members present.
Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Metheny read the minutes from September 7th, 2021, meeting and they were approved as read.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.
NEW MEMBERS AND GUESTS: New member Ken McArthur (U.S.N)
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Veterans Services: Roger Gilliam: Nothing to Report.
Cub Scout Report: Pam Minnehan: Not Present.
HALL MANAGER: Diane Burgess reported American Red Cross collected 31 pints of blood from the blood drive held this month
MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steve Metheny gave the membership report. Our new quota for 2022 is 460 members. 265 have paid. We still need 195 and we stand at 58%
Make sure you have paid your dues for 2022 they are $50.00.
They can be paid either on-line, by mail or here at the post with Adjutant Metheny. New membership begins July 1st .
SICK CALL: Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall,
Donald Taylor, Frank McBride, and Wayne Roberts, Jimmy Lee, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones, Danny Staggs.
POST EVERLASTING: Sept 1st Ralf Beard 35 Yr Member, Sept 9th Claudie Lindsey 32 Yr Member, Sept 16th Eddie Rogers 10 Yr Member, Sept 25th Maury Culberson 53 Yr Member, Sept 27th Robert Andrews 15 Yr Member.
FLAGS FOLDED: Sept 1st William Tuberville, Sept 17 Randall Vandergriff, Sept 23rd Gregory McMinnis, Sept 24th Bobby Gene King, Sept 29th Frank Lindsy.
UNFINISHED BUSINES: Appraisal from Columbia Power & Water Systems came in for Post 19 properties for 1.5 million. A special Call meeting will be scheduled for October 21st to vote on the sale of the real property owned by Post 19. Letters will be sent out to all active members of said meeting.
NEW BUSINESS: Service Officer Roger Gilliam nominated Kim Smith as a replace for Chaplain Eddie Rogers. No other nominations were made. Kim Smith with a unanimous vote was voted in as the Chaplain for Post 19.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: James Patterson foundation held a fund raiser here at Post 19 on Thursday September 30th with a total of $5400.00 raised. Sons of the American Legion and the Legion Riders donated $200.00 each.
Due to statewide health conditions, there will be no Ham Breakfast in November.
The Legion Riders will meet on Monday October 11th at 6:00 pm.

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: Bob Stephenson has American Legion Ball Caps for sale $21.00 each.
Bob Stephenson announced the Legion Riders will be involved in a Benefit Ride for Aimee Deane who is battling cancer. The event will be sponsored by the Marine Corps League. The benefit ride will begin at Post 19 on Saturday November the 6th with registration beginning at 0830. A silent Auction will take place at Boondox Following the ride.
There being no further business, Commander Eddie Ables adjourned the meeting at 6:43 pm.
