July 2022 Minutes

Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on July 5th 2022. Commander Gene McShane called the meeting to order at 6:34 pm. There were 35members present.

Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.

READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant, Steve Metheny read the minutes from June 7th 2022 meeting and they were approved as read.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.

NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: State Representative Scott Cepicky was a guest, he presented Donny Walters with State Resolution 719 honoring his 68 years of service to the American Legion and American Legion Baseball program

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Baseball Report: Donny Walters reported the past tournament, that Post 19 had won their bracket and Tupelo winning their

Bracket put them in the finals with Tupelo winning over Post 19 15 to 5.

Veterans Services: Darlene Barker: No report

MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steve Metheny gave the membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2022 is 460 members. 396 have paid, still need 64 to meet our quota. We currently stand at 86%.

SICK CALL:Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. Wall,

Frank McBride, and Wayne Roberts, Jimmy Lee, Archie Steen Jr. and Larry Jones and Larry Watts, Oscar Crouch.

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: American Legion Post 19 Ball Caps are for sale they are $21.00 each. See Bob Stephenson after the meeting if interested.

Maury County Fair has a spot for available Post 19 to set up for recruitment.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Gary Fisher gave an update on the Ukrainian Foster Family

Legion Riders will be meeting at the Memorial Building the following Monday after the Legion meeting each month at 6:00 pm.

There being no further business, Commander Gene McShane adjourned the meeting at 7:20pm.
