November 2023 Minutes
Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 met on November 7th, 2023. Vice Commander Diane Burgess called the meeting to order at 6:40pm. There were 41 members present.
Chaplain Kim Smith offered the opening prayer.
READING OF THE MINUTES: Adjutant Steve Metheny read minutes from the October 3rd, 2023, meeting and they were approved as read.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Finance Officer Donny Walters submitted the financial report, and it was made part of these minutes by attachment.
NEW MEMBER OR GUEST: Guest Dean Stephenson; Kenneth Thompson; John Breyfogle / New Member Yvette Bowshier

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Baseball Report: American Legion Post 19 Cyclones have been playing at the Columbia State’s baseball field for a while.
They have approached the Post concerning a possible donation for a new scoreboard. More information will be provided
later when it becomes available.
Veterans Services: Service Officer Jeff Parks nothing to report.
MEMBERSHIP: Adjutant Steven Metheny gave the membership report. Post 19 membership quota for 2024 is 410, 276 have paid, still need 134, the post stands at 67%.
SICK CALL:Post members on sick call are Don Richardson, Robert P. Norman, Jimmy Hill, William T. POST EVERLASTING: 10/14/2023 William “Bill” Dial a 48-year member of Post 19. He prepared the meals for Post 19 for
many years.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Veteran’s Day Parade to meet at the Post Office Parking lot at 10:00am

GOOD FOR THE LEGION: In conversation with the Boy Scouts about Eagle Scout project to take over the Medal of Honor memorial of John Harlan Willis
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Veterans Day the Elks Lodge will be serving a free breakfast for Veterans beginning at 7:30am.
Toys for Tots ride on 12/2/2023 will meet at Post 60 in Pulaski. They will be accepting new unwrapped toys for donations.
There being no further business, Vice Commander Diane Burgess adjourned the meeting at 7:12 pm.
