Auxiliary Minutes December, 2021
The Herbert Griffin American Legion Auxiliary met December 7, 2021 at 6:00 PM with 4 officers and 3 members and 1 visitor, Marsha Robinson present. The meeting was called to order by President Charlotte Connors and the prayer was given by member Gail Gilliam as Unit 19 has no Chaplin at present time. The Pledge of Allegiance and Preamble were recited by all members. We did not sing.
The Program for the month was Veterans Affair & Rehabilitation, Christmas for Veterans and remembering the needy. Unit 19 hosted a Christmas Dinner for the Members of Post 19. The meal was catered by Unit 19 member Connie Green. Connie did a wonderful and delicious meal consisting of Pork tenderloin, Dressing and Gravy, Green Beans, Potato Casserole, Candied Apples, Salad and Rolls. For dessert Connie baked Pineapple Upside Down Cake, German Chocolate Cake, Coconut Cake, Red Velvet Cake and Christmas cookies. Unit 19 set up and decorated the hall with Christmas trim. It was very nice for all. Thank you so much Connie!!!
The program next month will be Legislation, National Security and Mid-Winter Conference.
The minutes prepared by Unit 19 Secretary Gail Gilliam were approved as they appear on the Legion 19 web site. Edie Owston made the motion to accept the minutes, Libby Moss seconded the motion and it was carried on the floor. Paper copies were made and given to those members who do not own computers.
The Financial Report was prepared by Unit 19 Treasurer Libby Moss. Gail Gilliam made the motion to accept her report, Joanne Ring seconded the motion and it carried on the floor. Paper copies were given to members.
Treasurer Libby made the motion for the Unit 19 VGS fees increase from $400.00 to $500.00. Beth McAdams seconded the motion and it carried on the floor.
Bills for Presentation: One bill was for presentation: $500.00 was presented to Connie Green for supplies for the Post 19 Christmas Dinner.

Cavalcade of Memories: Nothing reported.
Chaplain: Nothing was reported and no one in Unit 19 has stepped up to be Chaplin.

Harvest Share suggested bringing: tuna and tuna helper, pasta and pasta sauces, romaine noodles, rice and dried pinto beans.
Gail Gilliam reported on the programs that Harvest Share services for Columbia: 1) provide 180 back packs a month to elementary schools that are not helped by churches, etc. 2) every 2nd Thursday from 11:00-12:00 is Senior Day (68+) 3) every 4th Thursday from 11:30-12:30 is Medical Day ( those with a serious long term illness).
