If you are interested in becoming a member, or an officer in Squadron 19, active or in-active, you
will need to know if you qualify.
You qualify to become a member of the SAL if you are a male whose parent or grandparent is an
American Legion member, “or” is deceased and served in the U.S. military and was eligible for
American Legion membership. If they are deceased, they did not have to have been a member of
The American Legion, just eligible to have been a member of The American Legion. They must have
served for at least one day during one of the following time frames:
(April 6th 1917-November 11th 1918) World War I
(December 7th 1941-December 31st 1946) World War II
(June 25th 1950-January 31st 1955) Korean War
(February 28th 1961-May 7th 1975) Vietnam War
(August 24th 1982-July 31st 1984) Lebanon/Grenada
(December 20th 1989-January 31st 1990) Operation Just Cause
(August 2nd 1990-to present) including: Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm
